Andersen’s own life was like a fairy tale. He was born into a poor family and his father died when he was only eleven. He didn’t enjoy school and didn’t know what he wanted to do. It was only when he was in his forties that his fairy tales were recognised. He is probably best known for The Little Mermaid, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor’s New Clothes and The Little Match Girl.

CHOOI LING KEIONG graduated with a Diploma in Fine Art from the Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 2002. Her first picture book, The Sweet Potatoes, was published in 2014. She has also illustrated for newspapers and is currently working on another picture book.
